A Dangerous Dance

A Film by: Menachem Golan
(Israel, 2007, 90 Minutes, Color, Hebrew, English subtitles, Cast: Eliana Bakier, Zohar Liba, Nic Raz, Claudia Steinberg,Ilana Avital )

Joseph is handsome, young and unemployed. He is also the best Latino dancer in a small town in the south.  All the girls fall for him - especially Tam.

Meanwhile, in the big city, we meet Annabelle, the daughter of the wealthy Ernest.   Annabelle's family live with the memory of Annabelle's deceased mother, a European prima ballerina who committed suicide. Although her father is against her involvement, Annabelle is obsessed with dance.

Annabelle trains for the biggest dance competition the country has ever known.  Her partner, Maor, rejects the choreographer's classical style and perfers to compete in the Latin style.  At the dance auditions Annabelle meets Joseph who becomes her dance partner and the two fall in love. Jealous Maor uses every trick in the book to get rid of Joseph.  He even sends his gangster friends to break Joseph's legs and tries to bribe the head of the competition's jury.

The difference between Joseph and Annabelle's social status gives the film its most dramatic moments.
