A Film by Jonathan Aroch
(Israel, 2007, 50 Minutes, Color, Hebrew, English subtitles)

Jerusalem Day, 2005. We're looking for remnants of the euphoric victory of the Six Day War, when the Israeli Army reunified the Old City of Jerusalem.
Very few people on the streets show any interest; shopkeepers complain, as usual, that the parades are bad for business; veteran paratroopers, attempting to enter the memorial at Ammunition Hill, are blocked by the politicians' bodyguards; while the politicians churn out clichés about the Eternal City.
But in their Yeshivas, the Religious Zionists are joyous. The military victory was a sign that Salvation is near. While Arab merchants watch impassively, processions of religious youths recapture the Old City, chanting "revenge, revenge against the gentiles". On Temple Mount and in the tunnels beneath it, they try to get closer to the Holy of Holies, to the Foundation Stone - the place from which the world was created.
While extremists on both sides, Israeli and Palestinian, are drawn to the flames of fanaticism rising above Temple Mount and while politicians on both sides exploit the intense emotions for their political ends, Jerusalem is being divided once more, as a cruel new wall splits its heart.
